Family Movie Night

I just love it when my little girl asks for family movie night.  We let her pick out which movie she wants to watch for later that night. She looks so forward to this.  This also works as nice reminder to get good behavior during the day.

So, first thing this morning she asks if we could watch The Muppet Movie.  We went to see this movie in the theater right before Thanksgiving and she received the Wocka Wocka special edition that included DVD, Blu-ray, Digital Download, and Movie Soundtrack for her birthday.  She was so excited to get it because she could  then have the music on her iPod.  Such a funny girl.  She sure does love her music.  Anyway, she kept talking all about watching the movie and snuggling with mommy and daddy.  As soon as daddy came home from work, she runs up to him telling him we are having movie night-with popcorn!  Now that was new.  She had never mentioned having popcorn until now.  I guess she knows which parent she has wrapped around her finger.

With dinner done, we had to hurry and get her bath so we could watch the movie before bedtime.  Once she got dressed in her pajamas, we all crawled in bed and put on the movie.  She sits there so intently watching the movie.  To me, it brings back memories of my youth watching the original Muppet Show on Sunday nights, the first Muppet Movie and The Great Muppet Caper.  So we are watching the movie and a song comes on:  Man or Muppet and she gets up to start dancing.  From there on out, whenever a song came on she just had to go down on the floor to dance-but we weren't allowed to watch her.

It was such a great evening.  I love seeing my little girl enjoying the same things from when I was her age.  There really aren't that many things that have stood the test of time.  Cartoons sure have changed a lot since I was her age.  We only got to watch them on Saturday mornings, and then we had to wake up super early in the morning so we could get our fix for the week.  Now, there are so many networks geared towards children that they can watch cartoons 24/7.  That sure does make me feel old.

The time has come to put that precious little one to bed.  It's going to be another big day.  So until next time, keep smiling.
